{Kansas City Wedding} Downtown Wedding at The Boulevard Brewery by Melissa & Beth Photography
By Ashleigh, Marry Me Metro Editor
Since we started your week with the Wizard of Oz inspiration board yesterday, I thought it would be fitting to follow it up with a real Kansas City downtown wedding from Melissa & Beth Photography. The fall colors, stunning church ceremony, and Boulevard Brewery reception at Chris and Amanda’s Kansas City wedding truly sum up a quintessential autumn day in the Midwest and Beth & Melissa definitely captured lots of exceptional moments at this lovely wedding!

The day started at the bold, city Aladdin Hotel in downtown KC. The bright green is so fun and funky!
Amanda’s reaction to her GORGEOUS and jaw-dropping new earrings from her soon to be hubby is epic! These are the moments every photographer strives to capture on film!
Bright orange roses are a perfect color for a fall wedding!
And the boys made sure they were ready for the big day :)
Chris & Amanda’s first look is so cute! I love how she is peeking around the corner in this shot!
Chris’ face is so smitten right here! adorbs!
Amanda’s bridesmaids look so stunning in their short, navy dresses!
And Chris’ g-men look cool and collected in their grey suits and argyle socks!
How about that row of yellow leaved trees as the natural backdrop to this lovely photograph of the bride and groom!
Growing up in the Midwest myself, there’s just something about an overcast fall day that is breathtaking.
I adore this precious moment of the Bride and her dad right before their walk down the aisle!
I cannot get enough of the beauty of this church!! Such incredible details and architecture at the Redemptorist Church!
This first kiss is seriously delicious! Love it!
The bridal party traveled from the church to the reception in true celebration style on Boulevard Brewery’s amazing vintage red double-decker bus. How awesome is that?!
The guests received customized pilzner beer glasses, a very fitting favor for a wedding at a brewery!
A beautiful patio kiss overlooking downtown Kansas City to end the night for this lovely Bride and Groom!
From Wedding Photographers Melissa & Beth: “When it comes to photos, we love, love, love color!! From the very start of Chris and Amanda’s big day, we were falling in love with color all over the place! We met up with the wedding party in downtown Kansas City at the Aladdin Hotel, where we found the girls getting ready in this gorgeous, colorful room! The great colors trickled down to every last detail, including the bride’s shoes and the groom’s socks. One of the first things we do when we arrive to a wedding is play with the dress! (Don’t worry… we are VERY careful!) While we be photographing the dress all day long as the bride wears it around, it’s one of those details that we just can’t help but capture! Amanda received a personalized hanger for her gown with her soon-to-be new last name- the perfect touch for the dress photos!
Then, Ah, the First Look… the one time of the day that Melissa and I usually don’t make any friends! We are very laid back, easy to get along with, and we like to have a good time while we work. That said, the First Look is the one time of the day where we put our foot down and make everyone stay away! Yes, even the moms are not allowed! We do our best to find a secluded spot where the bride and groom can have their moment… the moment they first lay eyes on their soon-to-be spouse! It’s an intimate, sweet, romantic, and emotional time. And we want to capture the authenticity of that moment. So to all those excited moms and curious bridesmaids who we force to leave the scene… just trust us… we will capture every moment and every look so that as you look back on the photos, you will feel like you are right there with the bride and groom during that special time!
For the Bridal Party shots we also captured tons of color we were hoping for!! You just never know what the weather is going to be like here in good ol’ Kansas! With a mid-November wedding, this one was a total toss-up. We were so happy to arrive at the Nelson-Atkins Museum and find these gorgeous colorful trees! Who knew that you’d find this kind of color so late in the year. We also had an unbelievably windy fall here in Kansas, and I’m surprised the leaves were able to hang on to their branches for so long! The weather was perfect… well, almost perfect! Other than the fact that it was CRAZY windy, the temperatures were mild and the overcast skies made for nice vibrant colors to go with the beautiful colors in the bridesmaid’s dresses and bouquets.
Amanda and Chris hosted their evening ceremony at Redemptorist Church was just as beautiful as the weather that day! Even if the bride and groom see each other before the ceremony and spend the day together taking photos [like Chris and Amanda had], there’s still something special about the watching the groom as he sees his bride enter the ceremony! Sometimes I wish we had audio to go along with the photos so we could remember what words sparked different facial expressions or emotions. So fun to see the way these two looked at each other during the ceremony!
After the ceremony, the wedding party made their way over to the Boulevard Brewery on a double-decker bus!! The brewery is such a fun venue to visit, but if you want to check it out and don’t want to wait on someone to have their wedding reception there, you can stop by for a free tour! Not only did Amanda and Chris choose a local brewery, they also chose a local caterer for the food! OH MY! Have you ever been to Blanc Burgers + Bottles?!! If not, you must try it! The best local burger you will ever eat and a great environment! I actually had no idea they catered events until this, and now I will be recommending them to all of our couples! Their food of course did not disappoint.
Congrats Amanda and Chris!! We absolutely loved being a part of your big day!!”
We also want to send a big Congratulations to Chris and Amanda and another Thank You to Beth and Melissa from sharing your awesome wedding photography with Marry Me Metro!
